Industry Engagement

UD’s Data Science Institute engages over 100 expert faculty across the University, leveraging the most powerful data analytics tools available. Through this unique resource industrial partners can:

  • Address short-term and long-term proprietary and/or industry-wide problems through sponsored / collaborative research projects that leverage industry data sets and University domain expertise
  • Demonstrate, test, and improve new, riskier concepts in a protected environment
  • Gain access to students and graduates (interns and future team members)
  • Gain access to powerful computational resources and expertise, e.g., DARWIN
  • Participate in and co-hosting special events, e.g., Lectures, Seminar series with faculty and students, workshops, trainings, hackathons: News, Events
  • Explore and access resources for workforce development, including certificate programs, short courses (customizable), and degree programs.

Institute Purpose and Design

DSI’s purpose is to accelerate collaborative research in, and application of, data science to problems in health sciences, physical sciences, environmental sciences, engineering, behavioral and social sciences, and public policy. DSI also facilitates external access to the University’s Data Science capabilities and assets, which include the Data Intensive & Computational Sciences Core and the DARWIN High Performance Computing System, and coordinates access to data-intensive research capabilities including bioimaging, fMRI, and other Core research facilities at the University.
