The Data Intensive & Computational Science (DICoS) Core is modeled on other research core facilities at UD that report directly to the Research Office such as the Delaware Biotechnology Institute cores, Keck imaging lab, and Materials Characterization lab. The DiCoS Core aims to develop and guide the use of shared resources and scientific expertise to support data science and computational research across the UD campus. The DiCoS Core will work to identify the needs of the research and education community and provide scientific expertise and infrastructure support, leveraging available resources and capabilities at UD and collaborating closely with the UD Information Technologies Office and the Research Office. Serving as a critical research infrastructure for researchers who pursue computationally and data-intensive research, the DiCoS Core will support interdisciplinary research collaborations to achieve competitiveness for funding opportunities, in particular major federal grants involving large, multidisciplinary teams. Like other core facilities, DiCos is a combination of sophisticated hardware assets combined with highly skilled technical expertise. It will also work with users to carry out advanced scientific studies, which may lead to research collaborations and joint publications.
