DSI Faculty Council member Sunita Chandrasekaran (center) is leading a new National Science Foundation project to develop the pipeline for research software engineers (RSEs), a new kind of research professional with a strong knowledge of both science and software, including artificial intelligence and machine learning. The interdisciplinary team developing the research software engineer (RSE) pipeline includes co-investigators DSI Infrastructure Working Group Co-Chair John Huffman, director, IT-Research Infrastructure, DSI Faculty Council member Rudi Eigenmann, Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, DSI Affiliated Faculty member Tian-Jian (Tom) Hsu, professor and director of UD’s Center for Applied Coastal Research, and DSI Associate Director Ben Bagozzi, professor of political science and international relations.
